      The authors obtain an explicit formula for the solution of the Dirichlet problem \[ \Delta u= 0\quad\text{in }\Omega, \] \[ u(z,\overline z)= R(z)\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega, \] where \(\Omega\) is a simply connected bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^2\cong\mathbb C\) and \(R(z)\) is any rational function of \(z\) without poles on \(\partial\Omega\).
