The authors investigate shift invariant subspaces of \(L^2(G)\) on a locally compact Abelian group. They prove a necessary and sufficient condition for shifts of a function \(\phi\in L^2(G)\) to be an orthonormal system. In particular, they investigate a necessary and sufficient condition for shifts of a function \(\phi\in L^2(G)\) to be a Parseval frame. They also construct a function in a principal shift invariant space whose shifts form a Parseval frame. They show a decomposition of a shift invariant subspace of \(L^2(G)\) into an orthogonal sum of spaces each of which is generated by single functions whose shifts form a Parseval frame. All results are extensions of some known results of \(\mathbb{R}^n\).
