Variable separation solutions for the \((2+1)\)-dimensional generalized Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov equation (Q2468169)

The authors obtain the variable separation solutions for the \((2+1)\)-dimensional generalized Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov equation using variable separation approach based on the general reduction theory. With the help of the variable separation solution and by selecting appropriate functions, new types of interactions between the multivalued and the single-valued solitons, such as compactons-like semi-foldon and compacton, peakon-like semi-foldon and peakons, are investigated. Meanwhile, the phase shift of these interactions is discussed. Some pictures made with Mathematica are shown in the last sections.
