For the nonlinear differential equation \[ y''={\alpha}_0p(t)\varphi(y) \] it has been singled out a class of solutions that can be rather comprehensively studied. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such solutions and asymptotic formulas for the ratios \(y(t)/\varphi(y(t))\) and \(y'(t)/y(t)\) as \(t\rightarrow\omega-0\) are proved. The suggested investigation method can readily be generalized to the case of solutions that tend to a nonzero constant or to \(\pm\infty\) as \(t\rightarrow\omega-0\). It is characterized by a uniform approach for the cases \(\omega=+\infty\) and \(\omega<+\infty\), which permits one to use the results for the description of the asymptotics of proper and various singular solutions. Owing to a vague definition of the nonlinearity in the above equation, the results obtained provide the asymptotics of the considered solutions as \(t\rightarrow\omega-0\) in an implicit form. However, by refining the form of the equation and by using these implicit representations, one can readily write out explicit exact asymptotic formulas for the solutions and their first-order derivatives as \(t\rightarrow\omega-0\).
