The authors study the distributions of periodic solutions of the scalar piecewise smooth differential equations \[ x'=\begin{cases} f(t,x) & x\geq0\\ g(t,x) & x<0, \end{cases} \tag{1} \] where \(f,g:\mathbb{R}^2\to\mathbb{R}\) are C\(^1\)-functions, \(T\)-periodic w.r. to \(t\), and \(f(t,0)\equiv g(t,0)\). When the equation (1) restricted to the equatorial line has a finite number of zeros, they are able to prove that solutions of (1) are C\(^1\)-smooth. When, moreover, \(f\) and \(g\) are analytic, and \(f(t,0)\) has only simple roots they are able to demonstrate analyticity of the solutions in some open sets determined from the roots of \(f(t,0)\) and prove that the periodic solutions can not accumulate at the borders of any such open set unless all solutions in that set are periodic.
