In this note four turbulence models for describing the homogeneous boundary layer near the surface of the ocean are given. With these one-dimensional evolution models the velocity and density can be computed, where the bulk Richardson number is the control parameter. Existence of the solution in the steady state case is shown and a mathematical linear stability analysis is performed.
