    The large time behaviour of solutions of the Cauchy problem \[ {\partial f\over\partial t}= {\partial^2 f\over\partial v^2}+{\partial\over\partial v}(vf(1+ kv)),\quad f(v, 0)= f_0(v), \] where \(v\in\mathbb{R}\), \(t\geq 0\) and either \(k=1\) (bosons) or \(k= -1\) (fermions) is analyzed for smooth positive and fast decaying solutions by using the entropy functional \[ H(f)= \int\Biggl({v^2\over 2} f+ \varphi(f)\Biggr)\,dv,\quad \varphi(f)= f\ln f- k(1+ kf)\ln (1+ kf) \] and the stationary solutions \[ F_{\infty, M}(v)= 1/(\beta e^{v^2/2}- k),\quad M=\int F_{\infty,M}(v)\,dv, \] with mass \(M\), where \(\beta\geq 0\). The exponential decay \[ H(f)- H(F_{\infty,M})\leq (H(f_0)- H(F_{\infty,M})) e^{-2Ct} \] for all solutions \(f\) with mass \(M= \int f\,dv\) and the entropy dissipation \[ D(f(.,t))\leq D(f_0) e^{-2t} \] for bosons can be stated at this place, where \[ D(f)= \int f(1+ kf)\xi^2 dv,\quad \xi= v+{\partial\over\partial v}\ln {f\over 1+ kf}. \]
