The prolific Swedish mathematician \textit{Torsten Broden} (1857--1931) wrote two papers on the foundations of geometry (1890, 1912) which did not influence the field but are of historical and philosophical interest. This paper offers an analysis of Broden's foundational work in geometry (viewed with respect to that of Hilbert) and presents his general views on science and mathematics.
