Let \(R,S\) be rings where \(R\) is left Noetherian and \(S\) is right Noetherian. For a faithfully balanced and self-orthogonal \((R,S)\)-bimodule \(\omega\) -- also called a semi-dualizing module for the pair \((R,S)\) -- one can naturally define a \(G\)-dimension with respect to \(\omega\), which generalizes the classical notion by \textit{M.~Auslander} and \textit{M.~Bridger} [Stable module theory, Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 94 (1969; Zbl 0204.36402)]. The paper at hand studies the \(G\)-dimension in this generality, and establishes a number of expected results. However, it seems to the reviewer that some of results have already appeared in the paper by \textit{T.~Araya, R.~Takahashi} and \textit{Y.~Yoshino} [J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 45, No. 2, 287-306 (2005; Zbl 1096.16001)]. For example, 2.2 and 2.4 in the present paper are contained in 2.5 and 2.11 in [loc. cit.]. It should also be mentioned that in the special case where \(R=S\) is commutative, a satisfactory theory for the \(G\)-dimension with respect to \(\omega\) can be found in \textit{L.~W.~Christensen} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 353, No. 5, 1839-1883 (2001; Zbl 0969.13006)].
