For a fuzzy number \(A\), \textit{C. Carlsson} and \textit{R. Fullér} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 122, No. 2, 315--326 (2001; Zbl 1016.94047)] have introduced a possibilistic mean value and two definitions of possibilistic variance, \(\text{var}(A)\) and \(\text{var}'(A)\). In this short note, the authors prove some properties of \(\text{var}'(A)\). Especially, they present an ``probability-like'' formula for the variance of a linear combination of two fuzzy numbers, and they prove that \(\text{var}'(A)\) is not smaller than \(\text{var}(A)\) where equality holds for symmetric fuzzy numbers.
