Developing results by \textit{B. Bongiorno, L. Di Piazza}, and \textit{K. Musial} [Math. Bohem. 131, No. 2, 211--223 (2006; Zbl 1112.26015)] the author gives a complete characterization of Kurzweil-Henstock integrability for simple functions \(\sum _{n=1}^{\infty } x_n\chi _{E_n}\), where \(x_n\) belong to a Banach space and \(E_n\) are Lebesgue measurable and pairwise disjoint subsets of \([0,1]\). Since every strongly measurable function \(f\) can be written as \(f = g+h\), where \(g\) is simple and \(h\) is strongly measurable and bounded, the result leads to a characterization of Kurzweil-Henstock integrability for strongly measurable functions. Also a characterization of weakly completely continuous operators in terms of their action on scalarly Kurzweil-Henstock integrable simple functions is given.
