This paper provides a partial solution to a previously posed problem of the author concerning whether a nontrivial coreflective subcategory of the category Top (topological spaces and continuous maps) that is closed under products must be all of Top. In the context under consideration coreflectivity is equivalent to closure under quotients and disjoint sums. The main result of the paper is that if no sequential cardinals exist, then such a subcategory must be all of Top. (A cardinal \(\kappa\) is sequential if there exists a sequentially continuous, non-continuous real-valued function on \(2^\kappa\).)
