The authors introduce and study sequential monad, diagonal sequence and iteration of monads in order to obtain characterizations of those sequential convergence relations corresponding to topological (pretopological, Fréchet) spaces (as fixed points of Galois correspondences), closely related to the case of ultrafilterconvergence, see, e.g., \textit{D. Hofmann} and \textit{W. Tholen} [Topology Appl. 153, No. 15, 2952--2961 (2006; Zbl 1103.54001)].
