The paper gives sufficient conditions for robust exponential stability of uncertain systems with time-varying delay obtained on the basis of linear matrix inequalities. Few simple conditions are obtained and supported by numerical simulations. The following neutral system is considered: \[ x'(t)=Ax(t)+\sum_{j=1}^m [B_j f'_j(0)x(t)+C_j f'_j(0)x(t-\tau_j)+D_j x'(t-\tau_j)] \] whose characteristic equation is \[ \Delta(s,\tau_j)\equiv \text{ det\,} \left[ sI-A-\sum_{j=1}^m (B_j f'_j(0)+ (C_j f'_j(0)+sD_j)\exp(-s\tau_j))=0\,. \right] \] The main results asserts that the neutral equation is asymptotically stable if the following conditions hold: 1) There exists \(\tau^j_0\) such that all eigenvalues of the characteristic equation have rigorously negative real parts for \(\tau_j=\tau^j_0\), \(j=1,\dots,m\). 2) \(\Delta(i\xi,\tau'_j)\neq 0\) for all \(\xi\in R\) and \(\tau'_j\in[\tau^j_0,\tau_j]\) for \(\tau^j_0<\tau_j\) or \(\tau'_j\in [\tau_j,\tau^j_0]\) for \(\tau^j_0\geq\tau_j\), \(j=1,\dots,m\). Special cases are obtained for particular \(f_j\). An illustrative example with numerical simulations is given.
