The Lerch zeta function \(L(\lambda, \alpha, s)\) with parameters \(\lambda\in R\) and \(\alpha\in R\), \(0<\alpha\leq 1\), is defined, for \(\sigma>1\), by \[ L(\alpha, \lambda, s)=\sum_{m=0}^\infty{e^{2\pi i \lambda m}\over (m+\alpha)^s} \] and by analytic continuation elsewhere. The theory of \(L(\lambda, \alpha, s)\) and some limit theorems in the sense of weak convergence of probability measures in various spaces for this function are presented in [\textit{A. Laurinčikas} and \textit{R. Garunkštis}, The Lerch zeta-function. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers (2002; Zbl 1028.11052)]. In the paper under review, the authors consider the Lerch zeta-function with algebraic irrational parameter \(\alpha\) and prove that the probability measure \[ {1\over T} {\text{meas}} \{t\in [0; T]: L(\alpha, \lambda, \sigma+ it)\in A\}, \quad A\in \mathcal {B}(C), \quad \sigma>{1 \over 2}, \] as \(T\to \infty\), converges weakly to the distribution of some explicitly defined complex-valued random variable related to the considered function \(L(\lambda, \alpha, s)\). Here \({\text{meas}} \{A\}\) denotes the Lebesgue measure of a measurable set \(A\subset R\), and \(\mathcal {B}(C)\) stands for the class of Borel sets of the complex plane. Note that an analogous result for the Hurwitz zeta-function was obtained by \textit{A. Laurinčikas} and \textit{J. Steuding} in [Arch. Math. 85, No. 5, 419--432 (2005; Zbl 1132.11346)]. The cases of transcendental or rational \(\alpha\) follows from limit theorems in the space of analytic functions given in the book cited above.
