In [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 5, 899--910 (2005; Zbl 1084.57003)], the authors have constructed explicitly a certain exotic algebraic chain homotopy 2-type over the generalized quaternion group (=binary dihedral group) of order \(4n\) for \(n=7\). The present paper generalizes this result for all odd \(n>5\). Their examples are valuable in connection with the still open question whether there exist groups with finite relation gaps and counterexamples to Wall's \(D(2)\)-problem. Recently several (counter-)examples have been suggested, but most of them for infinite groups.
