Let \(\mathcal D\) be the derived category of sheaves on a \(K3\) surface \(X\). An axiomatic definition of \textit{stability conditions} on \(\mathcal D\) has been introduced in the paper [Ann. Math. (2) 166, No. 2, 317--345 (2007; Zbl 1137.18008)] of the same author. Such conditions consist essentially in a map \(Z\) from the Grothendieck group \(K(X)\) to \(\mathbb C\), with properties. \(Z\) is numerical if there exists a Mukai vector \[ \pi\in H^*(X,\mathbb Z)=H^0(X, \mathbb Z)\oplus H^2(X, \mathbb Z)\oplus H^4(X, \mathbb Z) \] such that, for all sheaves \(E\) with vector \(v(E)\), one has \(Z(E)=(\pi, v(E))\). Numerical stability conditions define a complex variety \(\text{Stab}(X)\). The author describes a component \(\text{Stab}^+(X)\) of \(\text{Stab}(X)\). \(\text{Stab}^+(X)\) is the closure of the locus of stability conditions in which skyscraper sheaves are stable, of the same phase. The author proves that \(\text{Stab}^+(X)\) is a cover, via the map \(Z\mapsto \pi\), of an open subset in the locus of vectors of the form \(v=\exp(\beta+i\omega)\), whose real and complex part are independent. Moreover he describes the subgroup \(G\subset \text{Aut}(\mathcal D)\) which preserves \(\text{Stab}^+(X)\), in the group \( \text{Aut}(\mathcal D)\) of exact equivalences of \(\mathcal D\). This description suggests a conjecture on the structure of the group \(\text{Aut}(\mathcal D)\).
