Let \(G\) be a profinite group and \(p\) a prime number: \(G\) is said to have finite \(p\)-Abelianizations if the largest Abelian pro-\(p\) quotient of every open subgroup of \(G\) is finite. Using Furtwängler's transfer vanishing theorem, the author proves that a finitely generated profinite group \(G\) with finite \(p\)-Abelianizations satisfies \(H_1(G,\mathbb{F}_p[\![G]\!])=0\). As a consequence, a hereditarily just-infinite non-virtually cyclic pro-\(p\) group has only one end. Applied to 3-dimensional Poincaré duality groups, the previous theorem yields a generalization of A. Reznikov's theorem on 3-dimensional co-compact hyperbolic lattices violating W. Thurston's conjecture.
