    The authors study harmonic maps between two strictly pseudoconvex domains \(\Omega\) and \(\Omega '\) (in \(\mathbb C ^m \) and \(\mathbb C ^n \), respectively) with Kähler metric in \(\Omega\) given by \[ \sum \frac{-\partial ^2 \log (-\rho )}{\partial z_j\partial \bar{z}_k} dz_j \otimes d\bar{z}_k \] in \(\Omega\) where \(\rho\) is the defining function for this set, and analogously defined metric for \(\Omega '\) in terms of \(\rho ' .\) The first result says that if \(m>1\), \(\rho , \rho '\) are of class \(C^4\) and \(u: \Omega \rightarrow \Omega '\) is proper, harmonic and \(C^2\) up to the boundary, then the following are equivalent: {\parindent=5mm \begin{itemize}\item[1)] \(u\) is holomorphic or antiholomorphic; \item[2)] \(u\) is pluriharmonic; \item[3)] \(\sum \rho ' _s \mathcal L u^s +\rho ' _{st} X_j u^t u^s_{\bar{j} } =0\) on \(\partial \Omega \), with \(X\) -- tangential complex derivative and \(\mathcal L\) an elliptic operator given in terms of \(\rho\); \item[4)] a so called energy density function is equal to \(m\) on the part of \(\partial \Omega \) where \(|\partial _b u |^2 + |\bar{\partial }_b u |^2 >0\) for \(\bar{\partial } _b\) -- the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator. \item[5)] \(\sum (\rho '_s Ru^s )(\rho ' _t \bar{R}u^t ) =0\) on \(\partial \Omega \), with \(R=\sum \rho ^j\partial _j , \;\rho _j =\sum _k \rho ^{j\bar{k} }\rho _{\bar{k} } .\) \end{itemize}} This generalizes a result of \textit{S.-Y. Li} and \textit{L. Ni} [Math. Ann. 316, No.~2, 333--354 (2000; Zbl 0952.58012)], where balls with Bergman metrics were considered. In the next theorem, the authors find sufficient conditions for a function \(\varphi : \partial \Omega \rightarrow \partial \Omega ' \) to have a proper harmonic extension to the interior of \(\partial \Omega \). Thus, if \(\varphi\) is of class \(C^{k, \alpha }, \;k\geq 2, \alpha \in (0,1]\) and \[ \sum _s \rho '_s (\varphi ) X_j \varphi ^s =0, \;\;1\leq j\leq m \] and \(|\partial _b u |^2 + |\bar{\partial }_b u |^2 >0\) on \(\partial \Omega\), then there exists a proper harmonic extension \(u\) of class \(C^{l, \beta }\), with \(0< l+\beta < \min (m, k+\alpha ).\)
