The author deals with remarkable differences between the integrability properties of the Camassa-Holm (CH) equation \[ u_t- u_{xxt}= 6u_x u- 4u_{xx} u_x- 2uu_{xxx} \] and the classical Korteweg-de Vries equation \(u_t=- u_{xxx}+ 6uu_x\). A large number of articles, especially \textit{P. Casati}, \textit{P. Lorenzoni}, \textit{G. Ortenzi} and \textit{M. Pedroni} [J. Math. Phys. 46, No. 4, 042704, 8 pp. (2005; Zbl 1067.37088)] are currently referred, too. The author recalls the existence of the Kadomtsev-Peviashvili (KP) system for the CH equation, the local and nonlocal CH hierarchies, the solution of the Noether currents, the KP-CH reductions to the local CH hierarchy. The main difference from the standard case: CH does not admit tau structure in the sense of Dubrovin and the solutions of the Noether currents are not related to the Sato flows on the Grassmannians. Nevertheless a candidate for the Baker-Akhiezer function for the KP-CH integrable reduction can be reasonably proposed.
