Dimensional reduction of conformal tensors and Einstein-Weyl spaces (Q2473495)

The author examines a mathematical problem that concerns the dimenional reduction of geometric conformal Weyl and Cotton tensors from \(n\) to \(n-1\) dimensions. The metric functions are taken to be independent of the ``last'' coordinate. In the Section 2 the conformal tensors are described. In Section 3 the dimensional reduction fron \(n\) to \(n-1\) dimensions is presented. Two general features are discussed. Explicit formulas are given for reducing from four and three dimensions to three and two dimensions. In Section 4 embedding in a conformally flat space is considered. In Section 5 other work is discussed.
