The special cuts of the \(600\)-cell (Q2473596)

A polytope is regular-faced if each of its facets is a regular polytope (e.g., in dimension 4 its facets can only be regular cubes, tetrahedra, octahedra, icosahedra, or dodecahedra). While there was already a complete description of regular-faced \(d\)-dimensional polytopes for \(d\geq 4\), obtained from work by G. Blind and R. Blind, there was no full enumeration or listing of all polyhedra within the class of special cuts of the 600-cell. The authors of this paper, relying on delicate and hard computer investigations, are able to complete the enumeration. For this purpose, the authors generate all independent sets of the 120-vertex graph of the 600-cell. The answer is verified using two algorithms.
