Let \(\{ a_n \}\) be the sequence of coefficients in the Fourier series expansion of an even \(2 \pi -\) periodic \(L\)- integrable function. \textit{A. S. Belov} [Trudy Mat. Inst. Steklov 190, 3--21 (1989; Zbl 0719.42016); Mat. Zametki 50, No. 4, 21--27 (1991; Zbl 0752.42004)], has shown inter alia that the partial sums of such a Fourier series are uniformly bounded below if \(\{ a_n \}\) is convex and \( a_n = O (n^{-1}), n \rightarrow \infty \). The author obtains analogous results for trigonometric polynomials of best approximation.
