Minimization of the uncertainty constant of the family of Meyer wavelets (Q2473730)

In this paper the author obtains a lower bound for the uncertainty constant of a Meyer wavelet \(\psi\): \(J=\Delta_\psi\Delta_{\hat\psi}\geq\frac{21\pi^2}{32}\). This estimate is sharper than the lower bound \(\frac{9}{4}\) obtained by G. Battle for an arbitrary orthogonal wavelet. To minimize the uncertainty constant she also constructs the Ritz minimizing sequence, which consists of quadratic splines.
