    Let \(X\) be a compact Hausdorff space, \(\tau\) the class of all open sets, \({\mathcal C}\) that of all closed sets, \({\mathcal A}= \tau\cup\mathbb{C}\). A quasi-measure is a set function \(\mu:{\mathcal A}\to (0,+\infty)\) such that \(E,F\in{\mathcal A}\), \(E\subset F\) implies \(\mu(E)\leq \mu(F)\). \(E\), \(F\), \(E\cup F\in{\mathcal A}\) and \(E\cap F=\emptyset\) implies \(\mu(E\cup F)= \mu(E)+ \mu(F)\), finally if \(U\in\tau\) then \(\mu(U)= \sup\{\mu: C\in{\mathcal C},C\subset U\}\). If \(C(X)\) is the space of all real-valued continuous functions on \(X\) then a quasi-state in a functional \(\rho: C(X)\to \mathbb{R}\) such that \(a\in C(X)\), \(a\geq 0\) implies \(\rho(a)\geq 0\), and for \(a\in C(X)\), the functional \(\rho\) is linear on the least Banach subalgebra of \(C(X)\) containing \(a\) and the identity element. The paper discusses properties of quasi-measures and quasi-states.
