The author studies the operator \(d^*\), adjoint to the exterior derivative operator \(d\) on the de Rham complex in \(W^1\) topology. The domain of \(d^*\) is determined and an expression for it is obtained. Then he investigates the Laplace-Hodge operator \(\square=d\, d^*+d^*\, d\) and the boundary value problem \[ \square(\varphi)=\alpha,\quad \varphi\in\text{dom}(d^*),\quad d\varphi\in\text{ dom}(d^*) \] in an unbounded domain \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb R}^n\) with smooth boundary. For this problem the global existence and global regularity results are obtained via Fredholm property and weighted norms.
