The authors study monotonicity and convexity properties of functions arising in the theory of elliptic integrals, and in particular in the case of a Schwarz-Christoffel conformal mapping from a half-plane to a trapezoid. The authors obtain sharp monotonicity and convexity results for combinations of these functions, as well as functional inequalities and a linearization property. Certain generalized complete elliptic integrals \(\mathcal{K},\mathcal{E},\mathcal{K}'\) are used in the computations. Probably some of these integrals occur with different names in the excellent treatise [\textit{C. Gudermann}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 25, 281--394 (1843; ERAM 025.0753cj)]. The so-called Legendre \(\mathcal{M}\)-function has a central role in the generalizations considered in this article. Some conjectures are given in the end.
