A strictly elliptic operator is considered, subject to certain restrictions, and a natural realization of the operator is shown to generate a positive \(C_0\)-semigroup. It is shown that, subject to reasonable conditions, the semigroup satisfies pseudo-Gaussian estimates, and an optimal result with respect to this property is determined.
