The function \(f:[0,\infty)\to{\mathbb R}\) fulfilling the inequality \[ f(ax+by)\leq a^sf(x)+b^sf(y) \] for all \(x,y\geq 0\) and all \(a,b\geq 0\) with \(a^s+b^s=1\) \((a+b=1)\) is called \(s\)-convex in the first (second) sense, respectively. For \(s=1\) we obtain the standard convexity, however for other values of \(s\) these concepts are far from each other. Some properties of the functions convex both in the first and in the second sense are presented. Inequalities for functionals associated to \(s\)-convexity are given.
