Let \((R, \mathfrak m)\) be a noetherian ring, \(M\) a finitely generated \(R\)-module and \(I \subset R\) an ideal. It is known that the length of \(M/I^n M\) is a polynomial, called the Hilbert polynomial, of \(n\) for sufficiently large \(n\) if \(M/I M\) is of finite length. The authors [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 135, No. 10, 3073--3082 (2007; Zbl 1125.13009)] have studied that the length of \(\text{Tor}^R_i(R/I^n, M)\) instead of \(M/I^n M = \text{Tor}^R_0(R/I^n, M)\). In the present paper, the authors study the length of \(\text{Ext}_R^i(N/I^n N, M)\) where \(N\) is a finitely generated module such that \(R/I \otimes M \otimes N\) is of finite length. The second author [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 132, No. 1, 75--88 (2002; Zbl 1054.13007)] already showed that it is a polynomial of \(n\) for \(n \gg 0\). The main theorem of this paper gives a relation between the degree and the leading coefficient of the length of \(\text{Ext}^i(N/I^n N, M)\) and dimensions and multiplicities of \(\text{Ext}^j(N, M)\) (\(0 \leq j \leq i\)).
