The authors study functional Volterra integral equations of the form \[ u(t)= q(t,u)+ \int_{a+}^t k(t,s)f(s,u(s),u)\, ds, \quad t\in J, \] in an ordered Banach space. Here the improper integral \( \int_{a+}^t k(t,s)f(s,u(s),u)\, ds\) is defined to be \(\lim_{x\downarrow a} \int_{x}^t k(t,s)f(s,u(s),u)\, ds\) and the authors derive the convergence theorems for this kind of integrals in ordered Banach spaces needed for the use of fixed point theorems. The results are applied to impulsive initial value problems of the form \[ u'(t) + p(t,u(t))= f(t,u(t),u),\quad t\in(a,b), \] where \(u(a+)= x_0\) and \(u(\lambda+0)-u(\lambda) = D(\lambda,u)\) for all \(\lambda\in W\), where \(W\) is a well-ordered subset of \((a,b)\).
