The vanishing ideal of a finite set of closed points in affine space (Q2475109)

Let \(K\) be a field and \(P_1, \ldots, P_r\in K^n\) a finite set of points. \textit{B. Buchberger} and \textit{H. M. Möller} gave an algorithm to compute a Gröbner basis for the radical of the ideal defined by these points [Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 144, 24--31 (1982; Zbl 0549.68026)]. In this paper an alternative method is described to compute such a Gröbnerbasis with respect to the lexicographical ordering.
