The paper under review deals with meromorphic solutions of some functional and partial differential equations on \(\mathbb{C}^2\). The author first proves the following: Let \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) be meromorphic functions on \(\mathbb{C}^2\) such that the functions \(f_{z_1}(z)\) and \(g_{z_2}(z)\) have the same zeros (multiplicities are taken into account), where \(z= (z_1, z_2)\). If \(f(z)^2+ g(z)^2= 1\) on \(\mathbb{C}^2\), then \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) are constant functions. Next, by using the above result, he gives a local expression of solution \(u\) for the partial differential equation \[ e^{\varphi(z_1)} u^2_{z_1}(z)+ e^{\varphi(z_2)} u^2_{z_2}(z)= \varphi^2(u(z)) \] on \(\mathbb{C}^2\), where \(\varphi_1\), \(\varphi_2\) and \(\varphi\) are meromorphic functions on \(\mathbb{C}\).
