Some normal subgroups of the extended Hecke groups \(\overline H(\lambda_p)\). (Q2477870)

The authors deal with the extended Hecke groups \(\overline H(\lambda_p)\) generated by the transformations \(T(z)=(-1)/z\), \(S(z)=(-1)/(z+\lambda_p)\) and \(R(z)=(-1)/\overline z)\) where \(\lambda_p=2\cos(\pi/p)\) for \(p\geq 3\) a prime number. They give a proof of the fact that the extended Hecke group \(\overline H(\lambda_q)\) is isomorphic to the free product of two finite dihedral groups of orders 4 and \(2p\) with amalgamation \(\mathbb{Z}_2\). It are also discussed the power subgroups \(\overline H^m(\lambda_p)\) for any positive integer \(m\) and free normal subgroups of finite index in \(\overline H(\lambda_p)\).
