Summary: By using a new fixed-point theorem introduced by \textit{R. I. Avery, A. C. Peterson} [Comput. Math. Appl. 42, No.~3--5, 313--322 (2001 (2001; Zbl 1005.47051)], we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of at least three positive solutions for the equation \(\Delta ^{2}x(k - 1)+q(k)f(k,x(k),\Delta x(k))=0\), for \(k\in {1,2,\cdots ,n - 1}\), subject to the following two boundary conditions: \(x(0)=x(n)=0\) or \(x(0)=\Delta x(n - 1)=0\), where \(n\geq 3\).
