In this paper the notion of strong center of attraction for set-valued functions is introduced. Namely, let \(f\) be a set-valued function on a metric space \((X,d)\) such that \(f(x)\neq \emptyset\) for every \(x\in X\). Let \(x\in X\) and let \(A\subset X\) be a closed set satisfying \(f(A)\subset A\). Then \(A\) is called a strong center of attraction for \(x\) if \(\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} N_2(x,n,U)/n=1\) for every neighbourhood \(U\) of \(A\), where \(N_2(x,n,U)\) is the number of integers \(i\) with the property \(f^i(x)\subset U\), \(1\leq i\leq n\). Under appropriate hypotheses for \(f\) (lower semicontinuity) and \(x\) (positive Lagrange stability), it is shown that the set of points \(y\in X\) such that \(\limsup_{n\rightarrow \infty} N_1(x,n,U)/n>0\) for every neighbourhood \(U\) of \(y\) (where \(N_1(x,n,U)\) stands for the number of integers \(i\) such that \(f^i(x)\cap U\neq \emptyset\), \(1\leq i\leq n\)) is a nonempty strong center of attraction for \(x\). Continuous-time versions of this notion and the existence theorem are also provided.
