Let \(E,F\) be finite-dimensional (real or complex) Banach spaces with norms \(\nu,\mu\) respectively. Denote the corresponding unit balls by \({\mathcal B}_\nu,\,{\mathcal B}_\mu\). On the set \({\mathcal L}(E,F)\) of linear transformations from \(E\) to \(F\), one can define the least upper bound norm \(N_{\nu\mu}\), \[ N_{\nu\mu}(A)=\sup\{\mu(Ax): x\in {\mathcal B}_\nu\}. \] Each of \(E,F,{\mathcal L}(E,F)\) can be endowed with an inner product, and in terms of it one defines the polar of a norm. For instance, given the norm \(\nu\) on \(E\), its polar is the norm \(\nu^\circ\) \[ \nu^\circ(x)=\sup\{\operatorname{Re}\langle z,x\rangle: z\in {\mathcal B}_\nu\}. \] The dual norm of \(N_{\nu\mu}\) is the norm \(N_{\nu\mu}^D\) on \({\mathcal L}(F,E)\) given by \(N_{\nu\mu}^D(B)=N_{\nu\mu}^\circ(B^*)\). The authors work on the determination of the extreme structure of the unit balls of \({\mathcal B}(N_{\nu\mu})\), \({\mathcal B}(N_{\nu\mu}^\circ)\), and \({\mathcal B}(N_{\nu\mu}^D)\). Among other results, they characterize the exposed faces and tangency points.
