Let \(V\) be a finite-dimensional real vector space with inner product \(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle\), \(G\) a closed subgroup of the orthogonal group \(O(V)\). The group majorization induced by \(G\) is the preordering: \(y\preceq_G x\) if \(y\in\text{conv}Gx\). Let \(D\subset V\) be a closed convex cone such that \(D\cap Gz\neq\emptyset\) for \(\forall z\in V\), and \(\max_{g\in G}\langle gc,z\rangle=\langle c,z\rangle\). The triple \((V,G,D)\) is then called the Eaton system. Using normal maps \(V\to D\) (\(x\mapsto x_{\downarrow}\), \(x_{\downarrow}\) being the only member of the set \(D\cap Gx\)) originated by \textit{A. S. Lewis} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 17, 927--949 (1996; Zbl 0876.15016)] a method producing majorization inequalities on eigenvalues and singular values of matrices is derived.
