The essential spectrum of Schrödinger, Jacobi, and CMV operators (Q2479603)

The paper is devoted to a study of the essential spectrum of Schrödinger, Jacobi, and CMV operators. The authors find a generalization of Weyl's theorem in spectral theory. The fact that the essential spectrum of broad classes of operators identified to the closure of the union of the spectra of suitable limits at infinity is the central part of this paper. The article presents many different applications and some new examples. In addition, results obtained give a positive answer to conjecture posed by B. Simon in 2005. The results of the paper are new and sufficiently significant.
