Let \(D\) denote the open unit disc and let \(p\in (0,1)\). The authors consider the family \(Co(p)\) of functions \(f:D\rightarrow \overline{\mathbb{C}}\) that satisfy the following conditions: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize}\item[i)] \(f\) is meromorphic in \(D\) and has a simple pole at the point \(p\), \item[ii)] \(f(0)=f^{\prime}(0)-1=0\), \item[iii)] \(f\) maps \(D\) conformally onto a set whose complement with respect to \(\overline{\mathbb{C}}\) is convex. \end{itemize}} They determine the exact domains of variability of some coefficients \(a_{n}(f)\) of the Laurent expansion \[ f(z)=\sum_{n=-1}^{\infty} a_{n}(f)(z-p)^{n} ,\quad | z-p | <1-p , \] for certain \(f\in Co(p)\) and certain values of \(p\). The knowledge on these Laurent coefficients is used to disprove a conjecture of the third author on the closed convex hull of \(Co(p)\) for certain values of \(p\): Let \(p\in(1-\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2},1).\) Then the closed hull of the class \(Co(p)\) is a proper subset of the class of functions defined by \[ f(z)=\frac{z-\frac{p}{1+p^{2}} (1+\omega(z))z^{2}}{\left( 1-\frac{z}{p}\right) (1-zp)} ,\quad z\in D, \] and \(\omega : D\rightarrow \overline{D}\) holomorphic in \(D\).
