    The author investigates the eigenfunction expansion associated with the non self-adjoint Sturm-Liouville problem defined by \[ u^{\prime \prime }(x)+\lambda u(x)=0,\quad u(0)=0\text{ and }u^{\prime }(0)-d\lambda u(1)=0, \] where \(d>0\). For certain values of \(d\) the author shows that the eigenfunctions \(\sqrt{2}\sin \left( x\sqrt{\lambda _{n}}\right)\), where \(d\sqrt{\lambda _{n}}\sin \left( \sqrt{\lambda _{n}}\right) =1\), form a Riesz basis in \(L_{2}\left( 0,1\right) \) and are complete in \(L_{p}(0,1).\)
