The paper deals with the concept of left and right centralizer. The main result shows that, if an additive mapping \(T\) from a semi-simple \(H^{*}\)-algebra \(A\) to itself verifies the identity \(2T(x^{m+n+1})=x^{m}T(x)x {n}+x^{n}T(x)x^{m}\) for all \(x\in A\), for some nonnegative integers \(m,n\) such that \(m+n\neq 0\), then \(T\) is a left and a right centralizer. It uses a result on centralizers in semiprime rings.
