Let \(f = X^p + a X + a \in {\mathbb Z} [X]\) be an Eisenstein polynomial with respect to a prime number \(p.\) It has been shown by \textit{A. Movahhedi} [J. Algebra 180, 966--975 (1996; Zbl 0863.12003)] that the Galois group \(G = \text{Gal}_{\mathbb Q}(f)\) is either the full symmetric group \(S_p\) or the group \(A(1, p)\) of affine transformations of \({\mathbb F}_p.\) It is conjectured that \(G = S_p\) always. This is obvious for \(p = 2, 3\) and in this note, the author settles it for \(p = 5.\) He also shows that this property does not carry over when replacing \(a \in {\mathbb Z}\) by \(a \in {\mathbb Q}\) such that \(v_5(a) = 1.\)
