The authors solve the Dirichlet problem at infinity for \(p\)-harmonic functions in the setting of Gromov hyperbolic metric measure spaces. Since the metric spaces in question, in general, are not equipped with a smooth structure, \(p\)-harmonic functions are defined as minimizers of a variational integral. Let \(X\) be a connected, locally compact Gromov hyperbolic metric measure space equipped with a regular measure \(\mu\). Assume that \(\mu\) is locally doubling, the measures of balls of a sufficiently small radius have a uniform positive lower bound and that a local Poincaré-type inequality holds. Moreover, assume that \(X\) has at most an exponential volume growth and that compactly supported functions satisfy a Sobolev-type inequality. Then, any bounded continuous function defined on the Gromov boundary of \(X\) does admit a continuous extension defined on the Gromov closure of \(X\) which is \(p\)-harmonic in \(X\). The uniqueness of the solution is discussed, also. Finally, the authors provide examples of Gromov hyperbolic manifolds that fulfill the mentioned hypotheses.
