    In this article, previously obtained upper bounds for the residues of zeta functions of number fields are improved by taking the splitting behavior of the rtime 2 into account. These bounds are then applied to derive stronger conditions for the class numbers of certain CM-fields to be~1. As an example, previously known upper bounds for the discriminants of non-normal sextic CM-fields with relative class number 1 are improved by a factor of \(4000\).
