The authors are concerned with the study of proper holomorphic self-maps of smooth bounded domains in \(\mathbb C^2\). Their main result is Theorem 1.4: Let \(\Omega\) be a smooth bounded Reinhardt domain in \(\mathbb C^2\). Then every proper holomorphic self-map of \(\Omega\) is an automorphism. In higher dimensions, the corresponding result of the authors is the following, contained in Theorem 1.5: Let \(\Omega\) be a \(C^2\) smooth bounded Reinhardt domain in \(\mathbb C^n\) (\(n>1\)) that contains the origin. Then every proper holomorphic self-map of \(\Omega\) is an automorphism. The authors also point out that the smoothness assumption is very important.
