Let \(\mathfrak{g}_0\) be a real Lie algebra and \(\mathfrak{g}\) be its complexification. A Hermitian form on a \(\mathfrak{g}\)-module \(V\) is called invariant provided that \[ \langle Xv,w\rangle+\langle v,\widetilde{X}w\rangle=0 \] for every \(X\in \mathfrak{g}\) and \(v,w\in V\), where \(\widetilde{X}\) denotes the complex conjugate of \(X\) with respect to the real form \(\mathfrak{g}_0\) of \(\mathfrak{g}\). In the paper under review the author finds a formula for the signature character of an invariant Hermitian form on an irreducible highest-weight module of regular infinitesimal character. The answer is given in terms of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. The author also presents a survey of results concerning Verma modules in the category \(\mathcal{O}\).
