The authors treat two topics arising in connection with the Cauchy problem for the linear delay equation \[ \begin{cases} u^{\prime}(t)=Au(t)+Lu_t, \quad t\geq 0, \\ u(0)=x, \quad u_0=f. \end{cases}\tag{1} \] In this context, \(X\) is a Banach space, \(p\in [1,\infty)\), \(h\in (0,\infty]\), \(f\in L_p(-h,0;X)\) and \(x\in X\). One of the topics concerns the question of the kind of operators \(L\) that are allowed in (1). For the other topic, the authors consider that \(X\) is a Banach lattice and they determine the modulus semigroup in a rather general context. A new class of delay operators for which the delay equation is well-posed for \(p\) in a subinterval of \([1,\infty)\) is presented.
