    Denote by \(M_k\) the set of all \(k\times k\) complex matrices. The authors study the norm of the partial transpose map \(\Theta:M_m\otimes M_n\rightarrow M_m\otimes M_n\) given by \[ \Theta\left(\sum_kA_k\otimes B_k\right)=\sum_kA_k\otimes B_k^T. \] They prove that, for any unitarily invariant norm \(| | | \cdot| | | \), \[ | | | \Theta(\mathbf{X})| | | \leq\min(m,n)\,| | | \mathbf{X}| | |, \] generalizing Theorem 1.2 in [\textit{J.\,Tomiyama}, Proc.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc.\ 88, 635--638 (1983; Zbl 0526.46051)]. They get their result by studying the maps \(X\mapsto\sum_kA_kXB_k\) and \(X\mapsto\sum_kA_kXB_k^T\). In the second part of the paper, they prove that the map \(\Theta\) is isometric for the Schatten \(p\)-norms, \(p=2,4,6,8,10\), that it preserves the numerical range and that it is isometric for any unitarily invariant norm when restricted to the subspace \(\{A\otimes I_n+I_m\otimes B:\;A\in M_m,\, B\in M_n\}\).
