A strongly continuous semigroup \(S(t)\) in a Banach space \(E\) is called \textit{eventually differentiable} if there exists \(t_0 \geq 0\) such that \(S(t)x\) is differentiable in \(t > t_0\) for all \(x \in E\). If \(t_0 = 0\), the semigroup is \textit{immediately differentiable} or simply \textit{differentiable.} If \(A\) is the infinitesimal generator of \(S(t)\) and \(B\) is a bounded operator, it is known that the properties of eventual differentiability and differentiability are not necessarily inherited by the the semigroup generated by \(A + B.\) Among other results, the author gives a characterization of infinitesimal generators of eventually differentiable and differentiable semigroups such that these properties are satisfied as well by the semigroup generated by \(A + B\) for any bounded perturbation \(B\).
